Deadly Pwnies
Wellington Food Review

He watched the ice-cream melt on his plate
Baby booked a table at Loretta on Cuba Street. We hadn’t been out in a long time so I wore a pretty dress that the waitress even commented on as we came in. Baby had booked for a late dinner at 8:30pm because I had to work late. The website says they’re open late. They were open but they were’t happy about it.
The place was almost empty. I said to the waitress “Are you closing soon?” I said to Baby “Are you sure you booked it right?”
The waitress took our order and as we waited the rest of the patrons left the restaurant and the staff started to pack up. They wiped the tables down, polished glasses and made lots of banging noises. By the time our mains arrived they were ready to leave.
Baby was mid-mouthful when the waitress asked “Would you like to order dessert? The kitchen is going to close soon.” He said yes and ate away as he ordered ice-cream scoops. He wasn’t even halfway done with his main when the dessert arrived. He couldn’t finish the pizza fast enough to save the scoops from melting before his eyes. The waitress hovered around us turning lights off, snuffing out candles and cleaning the floors in closer proximity than we would have liked.
